The Characters


The characters of the book:

Rama- The main character of the book. He is an virtuous and honest man, who is open to helping friends and enemies, on various occasions. He is the son of emperor Dasarath, of Ayodhya. He is banished into the forest by him for fourteen years.

Lakshmana- Rama's brother, and protector. When Rama is banished into the forest, Lakshmana follow him, out of love. He is nearly as virtuous as Rama.

Sita- Rama's wife, who also goes with him to the forest, when he is exiled. Sita is kidnapped by the evil demon Ravana, in order for Ravana to try to defeat Rama in battle.

Ravana- The evil demon, and Rama's enemy. Could not care less for the gods, because he was granted a boon, that he could only be slain by a human, but no human is brave enough to face him.

Hanuman- A strong monkey, and the son of the wind-god. He is a key part of the battle between Rama, and the demons.
